Dr. Richard Nance DC MS CCSP®
ABOUT DR. NANCE
Dr. Richard Nance is the founder and owner of Accelerate Sport & Spine, which has been serving Rancho Cucamonga and the surrounding Southern California cities since January of 2020. He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) and M.S. in Sports Medicine from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon in 2019. Dr. Nance has a passion for guiding athletes through injury and helping them progress back to high levels of performance.
Dr. Nance utilizes his personal experience in sports and rehabilitation, as well as his clinical knowledge to provide the highest level of care for every client.
In 2021, Dr. Nance obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP™). This instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports. This training aids Dr. Nance in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries by enhancing his diagnostic skills and patient care. The CCSP® certification exists to provide a uniform standard of education that assures teams and athletes that the doctor has met a minimum level of competency in chiropractic sports medicine. Dr. Nance joins over 5500 others internationally who hold this designation.
Prior to attending chiropractic school, Richard attended Azusa Pacific University where he competed as a member of the track and field team throwing the javelin. He was the PacWest Conference Champion in the Javelin throw in 2014. During his time as an athlete he dealt with various injuries, spent plenty of time with the medical staff, and underwent several surgeries for sport related injuries. It was at this time that Richard developed a desire to work with injured athletes and help fill the gap he saw between rehab and performance training.
In addition to caring for athletes at Accelerate Sport & Spine, Dr. Nance is currently coaching classes at both CrossFit Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga (where the Accelerate Sport & Spine office is located) and Cable CrossFit in Upland. He is also serving on the Western Christian High School Athletics Department Medical Team, where he and other local medical professionals provide concussion baseline testing, sideline injury care, first aid, acute injury care, and injury rehabilitation services. Additionally, Dr. Nance is part of the ACA Chiropractic Sports Council and TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Certified. He is passionate about golf and helping others identify mobility and stability deficits that may be keeping them from playing their best golf.
Dr. Richard Nance lives an active lifestyle, which he fills with golfing, crossfit, weightlifting, and chasing his two-year old daughter. Dr. Nance, his wife Heather, and their daughter Juliet, live in Rancho Cucamonga with their two cats. They are active in their local church and love spending time with friends and family.
